Welcome to our series of flair mixology classes, Bartending Academy! This class will deep dive into the world of vodka infusions and flavors. The class will be led by Mederio Venable, who won Best Bartender in 2023’s Best of C-ville, and Allison Evanow, founder and creator of Square One Vodka. Join us for our immersive cocktail class that promises an evening of delightful spirits, fascinating history, and hands-on mixology.
This class will start with us infusing our own vodkas! Allison will take us through the infusion process, highlighting her favorite botanical and herbal infusions. Once we taste and infuse our own vodkas, we shall make a refreshing cocktail from our infusions!
The second part of the class will focus on making shooters with fruit flavored vodkas–Mederio’s specialty. He’ll teach us the secret to a perfect shooter, and share tips about adjusting the proportions of shooter versus a full cocktail. We’ll taste a flight of six shooters and then choose two two recreate on our own!

The class will focus on the art of infusing vodkas and creating shooters. By the end of the class, you’ll have mastered the creation of how to infuse vodkas, plus know how to make your favorite shooters at home! Our journey begins with a brief introduction, followed by hands on measuring, shaking, and garnishing.

The Bartending Academy is a series of exotic mixology classes featuring your favorite spirits as well as some rare treats. Each class features one special category of spirits, from vodka to scotch, cognac to piscos, this series has it all. Take one class or take them all! Every participant gets automatically entered in a raffle drawing to win some serious swag. Students who attend five or more classes will get a mixology certificate and be invited to compete in a bartender showdown at the end of the series. Perfect for a hobby bartender who wants real world experience, but also great for complete novices. We’ll meet you where you’re at regarding skill level!
